Microsoft releases July 2019 update for Windows 7 and 8.1

After rolling out the new update to Windows 10 versions supported with security fixes and improvements, Microsoft has released the July 2019 patch for users with Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 devices.

The new monthly rollup for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 comes with minor bug fixes and improvements. In the changelog, Microsoft states that Windows 7 KB4507449 includes security fixes for Windows Server, Microsoft Graphics Component, Windows Storage and Filesystem, Windows Shell, Windows Input and Compositions, and the Windows kernel.

You can download and install the latest patch by checking for updates in the control panel. Alternatively, you can also install them manually by downloading packages from the Microsoft Update website.

Windows 8.1 devices are also getting a new update (KB4507448) with the following improvements:


A problem that can cause BitLocker to go into recovery mode if BitLocker is being provisioned at the same time as the update is being installed.

Security updates for Windows Wireless Networking, Windows Server, Windows Storage, and File Systems, Microsoft Graphics Component, Windows Input and Composition, Windows Kernel and Windows App Platforms and Framework.
